Shinya Nakano returned to testing today at Phillip Island having recovered from a fever and stomach cramps that cut short his first day of Australian testing for his KONICA MINOLTA Honda team. The 29-year-old Japanese rider was feeling much better today after a long rest overnight and immediately set about testing suspension settings and new front tyres for the team.

Ducati dominated the second day of testing at Phillip Island both with the qualifying tyres used on the satellite team version of Alex Barros and with race tyres, which were tested today by Loris Capirossi and Casey Stoner while they continued their set-up work on the new GP7 machines.

KONICA MINOLTA Honda was forced to halt testing early on day one of the three-day Phillip Island test due to rider Shinya Nakano suffering from an illness. He and the team jointly decided to halt the test early at around 2.30pm.

A three-day test for Ducati at the Phillip Island circuit got underway today. The excellent work carried out by the Ducati Marlboro Team in the recent tests at Sepang allowed Loris Capirossi to rapidly find a good set-up on his Desmosedici GP7 and he ended the day just a few tenths of a second off the circuit record.

The hot temperatures ( 34° degrees the air temperature and the 53° degree the tarmac ) made the third and last day of testing more difficult for the Honda Team riders busy at Sepang in preparation of the 2007 Championship. Tomorrow riders and team will fly to Australia for the second testing session scheduled at Phillip Island starting from the 30th of January.

The riders participating to the 2007 MotoGP World Championship returned on track today at Sepang with the new 800cc prototypes for the first test of the year. Temperatures of 30°C in the air, 40°C on the ground and a 70% humidity rate permitted to make the best use of the first test day in Malaysia.
