Ending months of speculation following Ilmor’s launch in Estoril, Mike Janes was officially announced today as the Ilmor MotoGP team manager by team owner, Mario Illien. Selected for his talent and experience, Janes was a natural candidate having built himself a formidable reputation working within motorsport over the past 15 years.

MotoGP - Ilmor On McWilliams Jerez Injuries

Ilmor are pleased to report that following his unfortunate crash yesterday (Thursday 30th) test rider Jeremy McWilliams is already on the road to recovery. McWilliams suffered a fracture to his left femur and has a suspected fracture to his collarbone, however speaking from the hospital this morning he sounded upbeat and very positive.

The third and last day of the MotoGP saw Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa put in the fastest time overall for the test, the final MotoGP action of an amazing senior class season. Pedrosa, MotoGP ‘Rookie of the year’ in 2006 scorched around the 4.423km Jerez circuit, in Southern Spain at 1m 39.910s the only rider to break the 1m 40s barrier.

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP Racers Chris Vermeulen and John Hopkins recorded the fastest times on race tyres during the final day of the Jerez test in Spain today, Vermeulen setting a time marginally outside the current lap record, with team-mate Hopkins narrowly behind him.
