Work, work, work, it’s always the same. Australian  Troy Bayliss (can’t get away from Australia related news at the moment), will wrap up the 2006 World Superbike Championship on Sunday.

g_8858r.jpgThe Ducati Marlboro team took overall honours at the Japanese Grand Prix, with their riders coming in 1st and 4th positions, in what has been a happy hunting ground for local tyre manufacturer Bridgestone at its home grand prix. Unfortunately fellow Bridgestone team Kawasaki were less fortunate, with all three of its riders failing to finish including a final lap fall for Shinya Nakano. Suzuki fared a little better with Phillip Island runner-up Chris Vermeulen leading a Suzuki blue procession of team mates Hopkins and wildcard rider Kousuke Akiyoshi in 11th, 12th and 13th positions.

dcp2419r.jpgDucati’s Loris Capirossi stormed to the top of the charts on Saturday qualifying at the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi, a track reknowned for strong Bridgestone performances. Loris set a new lap record of 1′45.724 on the Japanese rubber, the fastest ever lap of the Motegi circuit. Valentino Rossi and Phillip Island winner Marco Melandri completed the front row.

dcp2387r.jpgDucati Marlboro riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau took some time out on Thursday to meet the Japanese Desmo Owners Club and sign autographs, including a huge banner that the club members had brought down with them. It was a memorable experience for all as few people get the rare opportunity to see the workings of a MotoGP team up close.

Riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau were both fast enough to make the top three at Phillip Island and they come to Motegi in upbeat mood, confident that they will have an excellent bike and tyre package for the Japanese track.

dscf0083r.jpgHonda’s new CBR600RR drew a crowd as it was unveiled to the general public at the Australian Grand Prix. The Big H had brought one of the new 2007 models down under to give the audience a taster of what’s to come. Noticable differences include the large VTR-SP1/SP2 look-alike central air intake, side fairings reminiscent of its 1000cc sibling, and a reshaped tail section that does away with the vents. The new bike should start appearing in showrooms early next year.

ce_2.jpgCamel Yamaha Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards were welcomed to the Phillip Island circuit by bright blue skies and cool ambient temperatures of 18ºC today, as the paddock breathed a sigh of relief that dismal recent forecasts were denied on the first day of practice for the Australian Grand Prix. The relatively good weather gave the riders ample opportunity to begin set-up work on their YZR-M1 machines as they worked to find an ideal configuration to suit the demands of the fast and flowing circuit over 27 laps on Sunday.
