Loris Capirossi, who has raced the Desmosedici machine since 2003, the year Ducati made its debut in the MotoGP championship, has played an important role in the development and the growth of the project. The renewal of the contract linking him to Ducati is the natural continuation of a successful and functioning partnership.

Brno grandprix winner Loris Capirossi launched Ducatis 2007 campaign on Monday when he took to the track with the GP07 800cc prototype in its first public outing. Completing 28 laps, Loris was impressed with the overall feel of the bike. A sub two minute time is a simply wonderful start and will have the other manufacturers looking very closely.

Talk around the paddock at Brno over the weekend suggests that qualifying practice for 2007 will undergo a change with qualifying tyres becoming a regulated commodity. Vocal opposition to how qualifying is being conducted now, is building strongly. Welcome back! I don’t know about you, but the summer break felt a lot longer than the four weeks. From here, to the end of the 2006 season, promises to be some hardcore racing as Valentino endeavors to hunt down Nicky and stay the only man to have won a 1000cc MotoGP championship class. 6 Races, 51 points.
