Four things stand out as I reflect back on the Laguna weekend. The first was the disgraceful condition of the newly resurfaced track. If this was anywhere else the race would have been delayed or have not have gone ahead. The strong need for a successful American MotoGP race means riders safety might very well have been compromised. What were the other stand outs? Nicky Hayden arrives home for the Red Bull Laguna Seca this weekend leading the championship and looking for his third MotoGP win, and the second in his backyard. A year ago his knowledge of the track gave him a competitive edge. This year, however, Valentino Rossi has a better understanding of the unique Laguna circuit. Rossi, fresh from an amazing victory at Sachenring, is out to make this one personal.
