Windy conditions met the riders today and knocked off 20kph down Gardner Straight. A titanic battle for the front row hotted up with fast time despite the blustery gusts. Yukios tumble resulted in a punctured lung even though no bones were broken. QP2 & Superpole times follow.

Nieto was part of the a breakaway five-rider leading group in the early laps, and despite great pressure from behind towards the end he held onto fifth place, to go 10th overall in the championship. Laconi had problems with the duration of grip from his front tyre in the second race and had to ride carefully and smoothly to ensure a points score.

The wait is finally over ! 2007 racing begins this week at the Losail circuit. The battle of Troy returns for its second stanza, throw in Max Biaggi, a refreshed Honda squad and the improving Kawasakis and we should have a nice start to the season. Qualifying times, reports and comments as they happen.
Rumors floating around the net have SBK up for sales for a lazy 50 million, small change compared to the 350 million odd that MotoGP was sold for by its previous rights owners.

Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra riders Yukio Kagayama and Max Biaggi carried on the development programme of the new 2007 GSX-R1000K7 at Phillip Island and left the Australian circuit with a lot of positive data for the team to evaluate.

Regis Laconi and Fonsi Nieto made final day improvement to their previous best lap times at Phillip Island, with Laconi beating his team-mate by only a tenth of a second in the final reckoning. Laconi’s 1’32.2 tied him for fourth in the overall ranking, with Nieto joint sixth, on a 1’32.3.
