Ducati Marlboro Team man Casey Stoner rode a hard-fought race in front of more than 130,000 fans at Jerez today, fighting all the way to finish fifth and put himself second in the World Championship.

Both the Pramac d’Antin riders leave Jerez de la Frontera Circuit unhappily. This, which for them was one of the important races in the Championship, is finished in a not very satisfactory way.

The Ducati Marlboro Team has concluded the third and final day of the double overseas testing session in Malaysia and Australia. Loris Capirossi and Casey Stoner did not complete as many laps today as the set-up of the Desmosedici was already at a good point, so both riders concentrated on testing the new Bridgestone race tyres and successfully concluded a 20 lap race simulation.

Ducati dominated the second day of testing at Phillip Island both with the qualifying tyres used on the satellite team version of Alex Barros and with race tyres, which were tested today by Loris Capirossi and Casey Stoner while they continued their set-up work on the new GP7 machines.

A three-day test for Ducati at the Phillip Island circuit got underway today. The excellent work carried out by the Ducati Marlboro Team in the recent tests at Sepang allowed Loris Capirossi to rapidly find a good set-up on his Desmosedici GP7 and he ended the day just a few tenths of a second off the circuit record.

On the first day of the second winter testing session held at the beautiful Phillip Island circuit in Australia, Alex Barros begin to work in earnest on the set-up of his DUCATI Desmosedici GP7, clocking the best laptime of the day, while Alex Hofmann followed in seventh position, now at peak physical condition after the illness he suffered in Malaysia.

The third and final day of testing in Malaysia came to a close today in stifling heat, with Loris Capirossi successfully completing set-up work on his Desmosedici GP7, both on an engine and suspension level and with the tyres.

Testing in Malaysia is continuing at a rapid pace for the riders of the Ducati Marlboro Team who today were able to take advantage of more sunny weather and continue development work on the new 800cc machine.

After the end of the obligatory winter testing ban and the traditional presentation of the Ducati Marlboro Team on the snows of Madonna di Campiglio, Loris Capirossi and his new team-mate Casey Stoner took to the track today for the first time in 2007, the first year of the new 800cc MotoGP technical regulations, at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.
